Chamarel, located in the south of Mauritius, is well known for its coloured earth. Chamarel evokes a voyage to the centre of the earth. Earth and fire merge, become magma, colours catch the flame and dissolve into one another. The soul of Mauritius is here. The soil of Chamarel evokes the genesis of our volcanic island and celebrates its multiple colours and textures. Natura’s Chamarel is an acrylic paint which creates the look and feel of naturally eroded rocks, weathered by wind and water. It presents a lightly textured finish which is ideal to cover up defects in masonry works such as fine cracks. Although Chamarel is best suited for exterior surfaces, it can also be used to enhance interior surfaces with its characteristic textured effect
Ensure all surfaces are sound, clean and dry before painting. Furniture, woodwork, particle board, must be prepared using Wood Primer. Sand and dust. Apply a first coat of tinted Granoprimer which has been diluted with 10% of water
After the application of Granoprimer, with the help of a long-bristle roller, texturing knife or a brush, apply the first coat of Chamarel. Allow to dry then apply a second coat. Depending on the application equipment used, and also the application movement and angle—various effects can be obtained. For example, you can apply 2 horizontal, vertical or diagonal coats; or 2 criss-crossed coats. You can also apply the first coat with a roller and the second one with a brush. In any case, we recommend a trial first on a small surface to test and determine the desired effect. However, once you have settled for one method, it is essential to stick to it for the whole surface.
